Currently we are looking for experienced Senior Truss & Posi Joist Designer.

Job Description:

The Senior Truss & Posi Joist Designer will be responsible for the design of Posi Joists and Trusses in accordance with Irish building regulations.

He/She will primarily:

• Be experienced in designing complex Trusses and Posi Joists.
• Have the skills and ability to deliver customer focused timber engineering solutions and build strong and lasting relationships with our clients.
• Act as a subject matter expert in our design software and ensure we are using it to its full potential.
• Be responsible for detailed designs for a 3-4 million euro annual pipeline of Trusses & Posi Joists production.
• Understand the commercial cost of design and the importance of value engineering solutions for manufacture.
• Take on a training/coaching role to develop our junior designers to improve their design skills and competencies.

Further details of the role are as follows:

• Familiar with detailed complex designs, cost estimation, quotations, and the sales process.
• Able to build close working relationships with key clients and internal stakeholders ensuring a customer focused and flexible service delivery.
• Experienced with Mitek and WoodEngine design platforms and can introduce improvements in how we use these systems.
• Proficient in the use of AutoCad or equivalent design software.
• Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Suite.
• Able to adapt to new software packages or BETA releases as the business requires.
• Able to work as part of a team but also can work on your own initiative.
• Able to converse confidently with customers and architects to understand their needs and be adaptable during the design stage.
• Be able to optimise design to drive efficient and lean manufacturing.
• Be a Team player – adapt and work as part of an established design office.
• Expert knowledge of current building regulations especially Part B and IS440.
• Understand steel component parts and the detailed fabrication drawings for any steel requirements which need to be incorporated into the timber frame design.
• Work to deadlines and meet design targets monthly.
