Job description

We are seeking a Managing Director for our client, an energy solutions company in Poland.

Our client designs and supplies customized, high-performance production plants for the wood-based panels, automotive, and recycling industries, as well as power plants for energy production worldwide. They have production units in Finland, Germany, Canada, the USA, the Czech Republic, and China, with sales and service entities across the globe. The group employs over 1,800 people. One entity is the largest supplier and market leader for Particleboard, MDF, and OSB plants in the wood-based panels industry. Another entity, based in Sosnowiec, Poland, specializes in energy and employs approximately 20 experts in engineering, technical design, and quality control for the company’s global energy business. The team in Poland designs power boilers and supports piping and steel structure detail engineering for European power plant projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee both the operational and strategic management of the Polish entity with a strong focus on boiler and piping engineering for power plants.
  • Retain and recruit engineering talent.
  • Implement local objectives aligned with the group’s global strategy for the energy business unit.
  • Develop a local service organization to enhance the European aftermarket business.
  • Manage the location professionally and disciplinarily, with responsibility for profit and loss.
  • Improve quality inspection processes for local sourcing in Poland, in line with the group’s purchasing strategy.
  • Optimize local purchasing procedures and processes.
  • Negotiate prices and contracts.
  • Handle financial controlling, reporting, and administration.
  • Drive business development in Poland.

Skills / Knowledge:

  • Professional experience in engineering and design of plants, particularly power plants.
  • Experience in leading engineering teams, personnel management, and change management.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written), organizational, moderation, and presentation skills, along with strategic and operational capabilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software.
  • Sales and purchasing experience, negotiation skills, and basic knowledge of contract law.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken);
  • German language skills are an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of SAP is advantageous.
  • Experience in managing and administering a company of similar size.
