On behalf of our client, a leading company in the renewable energy sector, we are currently looking for a proactive and technically skilled BESS Field Service Engineer to join their growing Operations & Maintenance team.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work hands-on with cutting-edge Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), supporting a more sustainable energy future. You will be responsible for the maintenance, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of energy storage units across various sites. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented problem solver with a strong background in electrical or electro-mechanical disciplines.
This is a field-based role with frequent travel to site locations across the country and occasional international assignments.
Carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance on Energy Storage Systems (ESS)
Performing system software and firmware updates
Monitoring system performance and conducting data assessments
Providing technical support and remote diagnostics to customers
Troubleshooting and repairing BESS components on-site
Managing and tracking spare parts and service tools
Ensuring compliance with all local safety regulations and standards
Conducting on-site risk assessments and implementing safety procedures
Maintaining service records, timesheets, and vehicle checks
Supporting internal engineering teams with feedback from the field
Offering insights and suggestions for continuous product and process improvement
Qualification in electrical or electro-mechanical engineering
Hands-on experience in electrical or multi-skilled maintenance
Basic IT literacy (Outlook, Excel, troubleshooting software, IP-based tools)
Certification or training in site safety practices
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel (overnight and international travel may be required)
Previous experience working with BESS
Knowledge of HV/LV power electronics (inverters, converters, transformers)
HVAC training and F-Gas certification
Strong understanding of IT networking and protocols (e.g. MODBUS/TCP, static IP, VLANs)
Test & Inspection Certification (e.g., C&G 2391-5)
Familiarity with BS7671 standards
HV authorized person certification
