On behalf of our client, a leading company in the renewable energy sector, we are currently looking for a proactive and technically skilled BESS Field Service Engineer to join their growing Operations & Maintenance team.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work hands-on with cutting-edge Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), supporting a more sustainable energy future. You will be responsible for the maintenance, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of energy storage units across various sites. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented problem solver with a strong background in electrical or electro-mechanical disciplines.

This is a field-based role with frequent travel to site locations across the country and occasional international assignments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance on Energy Storage Systems (ESS)

• Performing system software and firmware updates

• Monitoring system performance and conducting data assessments

• Providing technical support and remote diagnostics to customers

• Troubleshooting and repairing BESS components on-site

• Managing and tracking spare parts and service tools

• Ensuring compliance with all local safety regulations and standards

• Conducting on-site risk assessments and implementing safety procedures

• Maintaining service records, timesheets, and vehicle checks

• Supporting internal engineering teams with feedback from the field

• Offering insights and suggestions for continuous product and process improvement

Requirements:

• Qualification in electrical or electro-mechanical engineering

• Hands-on experience in electrical or multi-skilled maintenance

• Basic IT literacy (Outlook, Excel, troubleshooting software, IP-based tools)

• Certification or training in site safety practices

• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel (overnight and international travel may be required)

Preferred (but not essential):

• Previous experience working with BESS

• Knowledge of HV/LV power electronics (inverters, converters, transformers)

• HVAC training and F-Gas certification

• Strong understanding of IT networking and protocols (e.g. MODBUS/TCP, static IP, VLANs)

• Test & Inspection Certification (e.g., C&G 2391-5)

• Familiarity with BS7671 standards

• HV authorized person certification
